「 叱る 」って英語ではどう言うんでしょか？
アメリカでは ” call on the carpet ” といいます。
例文
Teacher called Tom on the carpet for skip his classes.
先生は授業をさぼったのでトムを呼びつけて叱った。
18世紀初頭、carpet とは会議用のテーブルにしかれる布を指し、よって
on the carpet とは「審議中」を意味していたそうです。
その後、19世紀のアメリカで、carpet は現在のように床にしく敷物を意味
するようになったそうです。
ただその頃も依然として裕福で権威のある人だけが所有できるもの
だったらしく、「人をカーペットの上に呼ぶ」ということは、

アメリカでは ” big wig ” といいます。

a big wig の意味は、「大きなカツラ」ではありません。
「えらい人」、「重要な人」という意味で使われています。
イギリスのジャッジ（judge）、つまり裁判官が、
大きなカツラをするところから、「偉い人・重要な人」という意味で
使われるようになりました。
また、a big wig は「裁判官」という意味でも使われます。
その昔、ブルボン朝時代のフランスでは、カツラは高価なもので、

「 どうしたの？ 」って英語ではどう言うんでしょか？
アメリカでは ” What’s eating you ? ” といいます。
例文
You look down today. What’s eating you ?
今日は元気ないようだけど。何かあったの？
“What’s eating you?”は、「どうしたの？」や「なんでイライライしているの？」という意味
でネイティブがよく使うフレーズです。
eat には（口語で）人を不機嫌にさせる、という意味があります。
不機嫌そうな顔つきの相手に、どうしたの？と声をかける時に使うフレーズです。
なぜ”eating”が使われているかというと、何かがあなたの思考や時間、そしてエネルギー
を無駄に消化しているからです。
つまり何かが邪魔をしている状態なので、このような意味になります。
「どうしたの？」という意味では、他にも
