「  意見が合う 」って英語ではどう言うんでしょうか？

アメリカでは　　”  see eye to eye ” といいます。

例文

It’s really easy to work with him on projects because we see eye to eye on most things.

プロジェクトを彼と働くのは本当に楽だ。だってほとんどのことで意見が一致するから。

「see eye to eye」は「目を合わせる」という意味に見えますけど違います。

「意見が一致する」という意味です。

アメリカでは　　”  a rude awakening 　 ” といいます。

goof off　仕事をサボる

「  仕事をサボる 」って英語ではどう言うんでしょうか？

アメリカでは　　”  goof off 　 ” といいます。

例文

I told them the deadline was Friday, but they kept goofing off and

they didn’t finish the project.”

（締め切りは金曜と言っておいたのに、彼らはずっとサボっていて、仕事を終えられなかった）

仕事などをさぼる、怠けるという意味の句動詞がgoof off です。

goof は「へまをする」「ブラブラと時間を無駄に過ごす」という俗語の自動詞です。

近い表現で、”ditch” や ”blow it off” などがあり、これらは常に「ちゃんとした理由もなくサボる」の意味になります。

アメリカでは　　”    get a clue ” といいます。

アメリカでは　　”   called on the carpet ” といいます。

しかられて」の意味になります。

アメリカでは　　” turn someone down ” といいます。

「turn … down」は「…を断る」という意味の熟語です。

「turn」の後には名詞や代名詞が入ります。リクエストやオファーを断る時に

使われるフレーズです。

Tie the knotという英語は、日本語では「結婚する」という意味です

Tie(タイ)が、「結ぶ」という動詞で、knot(ノット)は、「結び目」という名詞です。

二つ合わせて、結び目を作るという意味で、

転じて『結婚する』という意味を持つフレーズで使われるようになりました。

日本語の「縁結び」という言葉に似たような英語のイディオムです

語源は昔のヨーロッパの風習で結婚する夫婦がセレモニーで、約束の証として、

アメリカでは　　”stand someone up ” といいます。

例文

最初のデートで彼女にすっぽかされた

「stand up」は「立ち上がる」という意味です。それが過去形「stood up」となると、

「ずっと立たせ続ける・立たされ続ける」ことから「(デートなどの約束を)すっ

ぽかす・すっぽかされる」という意味になります。

「She stood me up.(彼女はぼくとの約束をすっぽかした)」や、とくに受身で

「I got stood up by him.(彼にすっぽかされた)」などと使います。

もちろん単純に「stand up」の過去形として「立ち上がった」の意味の
