feel like a fish out of water を直訳すると、「水から出た魚のよう（水
から出た魚みたい）」ですね。本来、魚がいる場所は、水の中です。

アメリカでは ” A little birdie told me ” といいます。

風の便りに聞いたけど、結婚するんだって？
「a little bird told me」という英語のイディオム、直訳すると「小鳥が教えてくれた」
となりますよね。 この表現は日常でも使われている口語表現の一つな
のですが、「a little bird told me」は「風の便りで聞いたんだけど」
「小耳にはさんだんだけど」という意味です。
