「  的を得ている 」って英語ではどう言うんでしょか?


アメリカでは  ”  Hit The Nail On The Head といいます。


例文

I think your latest thesis has hit the nail on the head.

あなたの最新の論文は的を得ていると思います。




hit the nail on the head、直訳すると”釘の頭を打つ”となりますが、

実際の会話の中で使われる際の意味は、“的を射ている・核心をつく・正確に当てる” 

という意味になります。


小さな釘に命中させるのは難しいですが、しっかり当てることができると、

「まさに核心をつく」となりますね。


このことから口語的表現として、”exactly right”のように、「まさにその通り」、

「核心をつく」という意味で使われています。
